With the March release date set, development of Subverse seems to be on track again. The development of the project has not been without controversy, such as the trouble involving a promotion event with a right-wing YouTuber and dealing with disgruntled backers over failing to hit the milestones on their much-amended development roadmap. Originally intended as an experiment to test the limitations of Studio FOW’s Unreal animation pipeline, Subverse ultimately evolved into a twenty-two chapter RPG project, excluding side quests. Subverse has been a Kickstarter success, hitting its funding goal by amassing over £1.6 million in just one month back in 2019.

There will also be space combat and turn-based ground skirmishes, as well as "cuddling", according to the devs. It's a fully-fledged PC gaming experience in which you'll be able to recruit lots of waifus, all of whom you can, er, "romance". As you can imagine, this isn't one for the faint of heart or the sex-negative. Subverse is a lewd adult RPG developed by StudioFOW, who describe themselves as "degenerate neckbeards" and "filthy apex perverts". Still, we might get to learn more about them in the upcoming dev diary that's been promised for November 17th. Both of these things were promised in the previous dev diary, so it's a bit of a shame they're absent here. There are, however, two things that are conspicuous by their absence: any kind of time frame for Subverse 0.9 and 1.0, and an update on the state of the Subverse roadmap.

Despite this, Tibor says there will be some free camera control elements present in Subverse 1.0. Essentially, it necessitates far more animations being created than the studio's relatively small number of devs can realistically take on. These improvements will include new outfits, more sound variation in sex scenes, and "fluid system improvements" (we'll let you make your mind up as to what that means).
